F. SCOTT FITZGERALD
BOOK COVER design
F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896 - 1940) was an American novelist, famous for his work on the Jazz Age and the Roaring 20s.
The purpose of this project was to design a series of book covers for an author. Most of Fitzgerald's books are set in the 1920s in America and are often decorated or designed in the Art Deco style. Since many of his novels are a large part of high school curricula, I chose to target young teen readers as my primary audience.
Many of Fitzgerald's books revolve around common themes: fame, money, and love. All of the characters he often writes about are searching for these things in their life. The backgrounds of each of these book covers represent those themes.
I created a paper-cut texture / technique for the artwork to create a more contemporary feel that would appeal to younger readers.
